Bayonet or RD40?

Respirator filters are connected to the mask in two ways: in pairs with a bayonet lock or singly with the standardised RD40 round thread. The full-face mask AG700 can do both, but never at the same time.

As of 6 October 2026, DS SafetyWear Arbeitsschutzprodukte GmbH

Bayonet: two filters

With the bayonet, two identical filters are placed at the sides and locked with a turn. The breathing flow is shared between both filters. Bayonet connections are manufacturer-specific: only AirGuard Pro filters belong on the AirGuard Pro masks.

RD40: one filter, standardised thread

RD40 is the round thread Rd 40 × 1/7″ to EN 148-1, a standardised connection for single filters, mainly on full-face masks. The filter sits centrally in front of the mouth. Even with the standardised thread: according to the declaration of conformity, the AG700 is only used with filters from DS SafetyWear.

Filter weight

According to the instructions for use of the AirGuard Pro filters, filters that sit directly on a half mask may weigh 300 g at most. Heavier filters belong on a full-face mask, where up to 500 g is permitted.

Which filter fits where

According to the data sheets of the filters. On the AG700 either the bayonet pair or one RD40 filter is used, never both at once.

Converting the AG700

  1. Close the connection that is not used with its cap before the other is opened.
  2. For two bayonet filters: leave the central cap closed, open the side connections and fit the filters.
  3. For one RD40 filter: leave the side connections closed, open the central one and screw the filter in clockwise until tight.
  4. Keep removed caps clean in a bag or box.
  5. Then check the face seal.
