Warnings

  • Replace gas filters according to a change schedule, at the latest when odour, taste or irritation is noticed. Then leave the area immediately.
  • Do not use filters containing activated carbon for firefighting, near open flames or with molten metal splashes.
  • Filters do not supply oxygen: do not use where the oxygen content may be too low (below 19.5 % by volume according to the instructions for use), in tanks, pits, shafts and confined spaces, or if the substance and its concentration are not known.
  • Use only with the AirGuard Pro masks named in the documents.

The instructions for use of the product are authoritative.

AirGuard Pro Gas filter A1B1E1K1 AGABEKK1, black

Four gas types, class 1

ABEK1 covers the most common gas groups in one filter, up to 0.1 % by volume gas concentration. If particles occur as well, the AGABEKK1P3 is the choice. ABEK does not protect against carbon monoxide, mercury, nitrous gases and organic substances with a boiling point up to 65 °C.

With the half mask AG360 the filter is permitted up to 30 times the workplace exposure limit under DGUV Rule 112-190, with the full-face mask AG700 up to 400 times. How the protection level is calculated is explained under Half mask or full-face mask.

Replace on a schedule

Gas filters retain substances until the activated carbon is saturated. When that is depends on the substance, concentration, humidity and breathing rate. That is why a change schedule is set in the risk assessment; at the latest at odour, taste or irritation, leave the area at once and replace the filter.

According to the instructions for use the filter can be kept airtight for a further shift. More under Changing filters.

Using correctly

  1. 01

Open only at the place of use

Take the filter out of its packaging immediately before use and check the expiry date on the filter.

  2. 02

    Fit in pairs

Place two identical filters on the bayonet connections of the mask and turn until they sit firmly.

  3. 03

    Check the face seal

Place the palm of your hand over the exhalation valve and exhale slowly. If air escapes at the edge of the mask, reposition it and tighten the straps. Before every use.

  4. 04

    Replace in good time

According to the change schedule, at the latest when odour, taste or irritation is noticed. Replace the filter too if breathing becomes harder. Always replace both filters together.

Frequently asked questions

What does ABEK1 mean?

The filter protects against four gas groups: A (organic, boiling point above 65 °C), B (inorganic), E (acid) and K (ammonia and amines), each in class 1 up to 0.1 % by volume gas concentration.

Does the ABEK1 filter protect against dust?

No, it contains no particle filter. For gases and particles there is the combination filter AGABEKK1P3 (A1B1E1K1P3 R D).

Does ABEK protect against carbon monoxide?

No. Carbon monoxide is only retained by special CO filters; they are not part of the AirGuard Pro range.
