Filters for respirators

Nine respirator filters for the AirGuard Pro masks: three class P3 particle filters, two ABEK gas filters and four combination filters with P3. Five filters have a bayonet connection for half and full-face masks, four an RD40 thread for the full-face mask AG700. All are PPE of category III.

Which filter fits depends on the substance (type A, B, E, K or P), on the gas concentration (class 1 up to 0.1 % by volume, class 2 up to 0.5 % by volume) and on the mask. The marking is explained under Filter classes and colours, the selection is handled by the respirator finder.

Which filter fits which mask?

AirGuard Pro masks and filters are tested as a system. Bayonet filters sit in pairs on half and full-face masks, RD40 filters singly in the centre of the full-face mask. More under Bayonet or RD40.

According to the data sheets of the filters. On the AG700 either the bayonet pair or one RD40 filter is used, never both at once.

Particles, gas or both?

Particle filters (P3) retain dust, smoke and mist, but no gases. Gas filters bind gases and vapours in activated carbon, but retain no particles. Combination filters can do both. The range has no filter against carbon monoxide, mercury, nitrous gases and organic substances with a boiling point up to 65 °C.

Class 1 or class 2?

Class 1 gas filters are permitted up to 0.1 % by volume gas concentration, class 2 up to 0.5 % by volume. Independently of that, the protection level of the mask applies: half mask up to 30 times, full-face mask up to 400 times the limit value. At AirGuard Pro the bayonet filters are class 1, the RD40 filters class 2.

When to replace?

Particle filters when breathing becomes noticeably harder. Gas filters according to a fixed change schedule, at the latest at odour, taste or irritation. The period of use for each filter is in its instructions for use. More under Changing filters.

Only within the system

According to the declarations of conformity, AirGuard Pro masks are only used with filters from DS SafetyWear. Third-party filters, even with the standardised RD40 thread, are not tested with the masks.

Frequently asked questions

Which filter protects against solvent vapours?

A filter with type A if the boiling point is above 65 °C: in the bayonet range AGA1E1, AGABEKK1 and AGABEKK1P3, with RD40 thread AGA2E2, AGABEK2 and AGABEK2P3.

What does ABEK mean?

The filter protects against A organic gases and vapours, B inorganic gases, E acid gases and K ammonia and amines. The number after it is the class.

Does a P3 filter protect against gases?

No. Against gases and vapours you need a gas or combination filter.

Do RD40 filters fit the half mask?

No. In the AirGuard Pro range RD40 filters only fit the full-face mask AG700. The five bayonet filters belong on the half masks AG360 and AG360W.
