What the heading means
“Module B EU Type-Examination Certificate” means: a notified body has examined the design of the product and assessed the technical documentation. The basis is Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment. The check is against the essential health and safety requirements in Annex II of the regulation and against the named standard.
Who tests: the notified body
The certificates come from CCQS Certification Services Limited in Dublin, Ireland, with the identification number 2834. This number also stands next to the CE marking on the products and in the instructions for use. For category III products such as respiratory protection a notified body must be involved. The certificate also shows an accreditation for product certification to ISO/IEC 17065.
Why category III requires more
The certificate contains the sentence: if the certified product is category III, the certificate is only valid together with a conformity assessment to Module C2 or Module D. This means that ongoing monitoring of production is added to the type examination. The certificate alone therefore does not yet make the product conforming, the EU declaration of conformity of the manufacturer is added.
Why there is a validity date
Certificates are time-limited. For every product check the “Expiry date” and whether the associated declaration of conformity refers to the valid certificate. If the standard changes or the product changes, the certificate can be adapted or reissued. Changes to design or manufacturing location must be reported by the manufacturer to the notified body.

The certificate names the contact for queries: if you doubt the integrity, write an email to verify@ccqs.ie. The website of the body is www.ccqs.co.uk. What is an EU type-examination certificate?
