Warnings

  • Protects only against particles (dust, smoke, mist), not against gases and vapours.
  • Not against carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances, radioactive substances, biological agents of risk groups 2 and 3, and enzymes.
  • Wear for one working shift at most (NR), then dispose of it. If breathing resistance becomes noticeably high, replace the mask at once.
  • Oxygen content at least 17 % by volume. The type and concentration of hazardous substances must be known. If there is a risk of oxygen deficiency, too high a concentration or unknown conditions, use breathing apparatus that is independent of the ambient air.
  • Do not use with a beard, sideburns or deep scars in the sealing area. Check the face seal every time you put the mask on.

The instructions for use of the product are authoritative.

When FFP1 is the right choice

FFP1 is the lowest filter class. Under DGUV Rule 112-190 an FFP1 mask is permitted up to 4 times the workplace exposure limit. It suits dust that the risk assessment classes as low hazard at a low concentration, for example occasional cleaning and tidying work.

The instructions for use expressly exclude carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic substances, radioactive substances, biological agents of risk groups 2 and 3, and enzymes. FFP1 is not approved for them.

When you need a higher class

If the concentration is above 4 times the limit value or the dust is harmful to health, choose FFP2 (up to 10 times) or FFP3 (up to 30 times). For permanent exposure a half mask with P3 filter is often the more economical and more comfortable solution. The comparison shows how to decide.

Without valve: also for clean areas

The 6100 has no exhalation valve. Exhaled air also passes through the filter material. This matters when not only the wearer but also the surroundings are to be protected, for example in food processing. Whether a mask without a valve is sufficient there is decided by the company's hygiene concept.

Packaging and storage

The masks come 20 to a box in a foil bag. According to the instructions for use they are stored in the closed, undamaged original packaging at room temperature, protected from direct sunlight, and keep for five years if stored correctly.

Putting on and checking the face seal

  1. 01

    Put on the mask

Place the mask over nose and mouth and guide the straps over the head as shown in figures 1 to 5 of the instructions for use.

  2. 02

    Adjust the nose clip

Press the nose clip exactly over the nose and squeeze it gently until the mask fits snugly.

  3. 03

    Check the face seal

Cup the mask with both hands and exhale forcefully. If air escapes at the nose, press the clip down harder, otherwise move or shorten the elastic bands.

  4. 04

    Wear for one shift

Wear the mask for one working shift at most. If breathing becomes harder, replace it at once and start again with a new mask.

Frequently asked questions

How long may I wear an FFP1 mask?

One working shift at most. The marking NR means not reusable. If breathing resistance becomes noticeably high, the mask is replaced at once.

Does FFP1 protect against gases or solvent vapours?

No. The mask only protects against solid and non-volatile liquid particles. Against gases and vapours you need a half mask with gas or combination filter.

Which dusts is FFP1 enough for?

For dusts that the risk assessment classes as low hazard, up to 4 times the limit value. For carcinogenic substances, biological agents of risk groups 2 and 3 and enzymes, FFP1 is excluded by the instructions for use.

How many masks are in one pack?

20 per box in a foil bag.

Can I wear the mask with a beard?

No. A beard, sideburns or deep scars in the sealing area prevent the face seal. More under Face seal and beards.
