The two solutions compared
| Criterion | Disposable respirator FFP3 | Half mask AG360 with filter |
|---|---|---|
| Protection against dust | up to 30 times the limit value | up to 30 times the limit value (P3) |
| Gases and vapours | no protection | yes, with gas or combination filter |
| Wearing time | one shift at most (NR) | mask reusable, replace filter when breathing resistance is high |
| Care | none | clean and disinfect after each use |
| Ready for use | at once | fit filters, check face seal |
| Storage | 5 years in original packaging | mask body 3 years if stored correctly |
| Fit | several designs, one size | silicone mask with adjustable harness |
When the disposable respirator fits
- Occasional dust jobs and short tasks.
- Visitors, contractors and reserve stock for emergencies at the workplace.
- Companies that do not want or cannot organise mask care.
- Areas with hygiene requirements: then choose a mask without a valve.
When the half mask is better
- Daily, long use: only the filter is replaced, the mask stays.
- Gases and vapours, alone or with dust: only filtering masks can handle these.
- Changing hazardous substances: one mask body, matching filters for each job.
- Higher fit requirements: the silicone mask can be adjusted through its harness.
How to work it out
Whether the half mask pays off depends on your figures. For one employee, count how many masks per shift and year are needed, and compare this with the purchase price of the half mask, the filters and the effort for cleaning and storage. Prices and scales are in the B2B shop. On request we calculate an offer for both variants with your quantities.
Regardless of price: if the concentration is above 30 times the limit value or eyes and face are to be protected, only the full-face mask is an option.

The disposable respirators are under Disposable respirators, the reusable ones under Respirators. How the classes relate is explained under FFP1, FFP2 or FFP3. The respirator finder works out the combination for your workplace.
Frequently asked questions
Is an FFP3 mask as good as a half mask with P3 filter?
For dust yes: both are permitted up to 30 times the workplace exposure limit. The half mask can also take gas filters, the disposable respirator cannot.
How often can I use a disposable respirator?
AirGuard Pro masks are marked NR: one working shift at most.
Which is cheaper?
That depends on frequency of use and care effort. For daily use the half mask usually pays off, for occasional use the disposable respirator. We work it out with your figures.
Do I need instruction for the half mask?
Yes. Instruction with exercises and occupational health surveillance are set by the risk assessment under DGUV Rule 112-190 and ArbMedVV; this applies to disposable and half masks alike.
